3000 psi is fine for the redwood just use a wide degree tip or hold the wand about a foot from the deck. Theres no need to kink the hose or have the water on while you hook it up. Just hook it all up open the wand, tell the water comes out then fire it up.

3000 PSI is about 2000 psi too much for redwood. Another couple minutes and we could have seen some real damage.
